Nobel Peace Prize Is Made of Fairmined Gold

The Nobel Peace Prize is choosy about what kind of gold the prize will be made of. Since 2014, that choice has been Fairmined certified gold. What is the significance of this choice?

The Nobel Peace Center explains, “The Fairmined certification assures that responsible working conditions and environmental considerations are adhered to.” To bring greater awareness to these pressing issues with their global ramifications, the Nobel Peace Prize elected to begin making its medal in Fairmined gold from 2014.

This means: mercury free and fully traceable directly to the mine. It means: fair labor practices and environmentally responsible production conditions can be assured. At last, pure gold, gold that is good through and through.
